ITANAGAR, 2 Apr: A minor girl, who had been reported missing from Naharlagun on 26 March, was traced and rescued from Guwahati (Assam), in close coordination with the Assam Police, informed Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega in a release on Thursday.

Acting on the complaint, Naharlagun Police Station OC Inspector K Dev swiftly initiated efforts to trace the missing girl.

During the course of investigation, her movement was tracked to Fancy Bazaar, Guwahati, after she had boarded a bus from Naharlagun. It was revealed that the minor had left home due to fear of parental scolding over poor academic performance, the SP informed.

Upon reaching Guwahati, the minor reportedly came into contact with two women who attempted to misguide her, raising suspicion of possible trafficking involvement. Based on the timely inputs shared by the Naharlagun police, a team from the Pan Bazaar police station, Guwahati, acted promptly and traced and rescued the girl.

The rescued minor was safely brought back to Naharlagun and handed over to her parents. The women with the suspicious behaviour fled from the scene upon noticing the presence of the police, the release said.
