ITANAGAR, 2 Apr: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) on Thursday signed an MoU with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), ISRO, to study lightning phenomena and associated atmospheric processes in Arunachal Pradesh, officials said.
The collaboration aims to enhance scientific understanding of lightning and thunderstorms, which frequently pose a threat to life, property, and infrastructure in the state due to its mountainous terrain and monsoon-driven wind circulation, they said.
The NRSC has already installed advanced equipment and sensors at the university, with preliminary data collected and tested for quality, the officials said.
RGU Registrar NT Rikam said the collaboration reflects the university’s continued efforts to explore new frontiers in science and technology, and that the NRSC’s involvement would help bring greater clarity in understanding lightning patterns in the region. (PTI)
