ITANAGAR, 2 May: Governor KT Parnaik presented the prestigious ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ medallion for excellence to Manami Moyir Gamlin, a student of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Nirjuli, at the Lok Bhavan here on Friday.

Gamlin was honoured with the award by the governor for her exceptional talent and graceful expression in Indian classical dance, reflecting both her dedication to the art and her deep respect for the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Commending her remarkable talent and dedication, the governor lauded Gamlin for her graceful performances and deep commitment to Indian classical dance traditions.

Over the years, she has actively showcased her artistry through various classical dance forms, such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Odissi, while also excelling in folk traditions like Lavani. Her performances at various cultural programmes at the Lok Bhavan and other prestigious platforms have consistently reflected discipline, expression, and cultural depth.

The governor observed that Gamlin “exemplifies the immense potential and creativity of the youths of Arunachal Pradesh.”

Her journey, he said, is a testament to how dedication, guided training, and passion can help young individuals achieve excellence while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the country.

The governor said that her achievements would inspire many more young boys and girls across the state to take pride in Indian classical arts and strive for mastery in these timeless traditions. He emphasised the importance of nurturing such talent to keep India’s cultural legacy vibrant and alive.

Gamlin, daughter of RGU Assistant Professor Moyir Riba and Daman Gamlin, is currently pursuing her visarad in Kathak at the Nrityangan Dance and Music Academy, Itanagar. Following her mother’s footstep, a talented classical dancer herself, Gamlin, alongside her classical training, has also been actively learning and performing various folk dance forms from different parts of Arunachal, showcasing her versatility as an artist. Her talent has earned her opportunities to perform on prestigious platforms, including the G20 Summit, the C20 Summit, and the centenary celebration of the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala, among others, bringing pride to the state and inspiring her peers.
