KHONSA/YUPIA, Jul 30: Awareness programmes on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, were organized in schools across Tirap district from 18 to 26 July.
Organized by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and the ICDS deputy director, the programmes were aimed at sensitizing students and teachers regarding the various aspects of the POCSO Act, which includes prevention, protection of child from sexual abuse, harassment, maltreatment, etc.
Awareness programmes on the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, were also conducted in various schools of Papum Pare district during the same period by the DCPU.
The programmes covered schools in Nonpu, Emchi, Tigdo, Dobam, Banderdewa, Karsingsa, Mani, Banderdewa, and Kimin.
Around 1200 students participated in the awareness programmes. (DIPRO)
