Pema writes to UP CM, union rly minister
ITANAGAR, Aug 10: Aggrieved by the death of Arunachalee youth Tage Dule on the intervening night of 2-3 August while travelling by train from Delhi to Itanagar, Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday wrote to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, seeking their personal intervention in delivering justice to the victim by arresting and giving exemplary punishment to the culprits.
Providing details of the gruesome incident, Pema said the youth, who hails from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district, was thrown out of the train by miscreants in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh and later succumbed to his injuries at the Shyama Prasad Civil Hospital in Lucknow on 6 August.
“I am given to understand that in his dying statement given to the UP Police from the hospital bed, he disclosed the atrocities inflicted upon him by unknown miscreants in the train, and was finally pushed out of the train. I am also given to understand that there were burn injuries on his body, which indicates foul play by the miscreants before pushing him out of the train,” Pema wrote.
Terming the incident “barbaric and heartbreaking,” the chief minister, on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, sought immediate probe into the whole incident and stringent action as per law.
“For delivering justice and peace to the departed soul, the bereaved family and the people of Arunachal Pradesh, I request you to kindly expedite action for thorough investigation and early arrest of the culprits and give exemplary punishment to avoid recurrence of such horrific incident in future,” Pema added.
Assn urges Rijiju to initiate action to nab culprits
Meanwhile, the Apatani Youth Association (AYA) has appealed to Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju to initiate strong action to ensure that the perpetrators of the crime that led to the death of Tage Dule are arrested at the earliest.
In a representation to the union minister, the AYA said Rijiju “being at the helm of affairs in the central government” could initiate strong action in coordination with the railways ministry and the UP government to nab the culprit(s).
“Such heinous crime can be committed by habitual criminal(s) only,” the AYA said, adding that the incident involving a youth from the Northeast could be a case of racism and discrimination towards people of the region.
The AYA appealed to the union minister to keenly monitor the case until justice is delivered to the family of the victim.
