Villagers celebrate Nobel Peace Prize anniversary

TAWANG, Dec 10: The people of Shyo village in collaboration with the Indo-Tibet Friendship Society on Monday organised a function here to mark the 29th anniversary of the conferral of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Dalai Lama.
The Dalai Lama was conferred the prestigious award in 1989.
Addressing the people from Tawang township and nearby villages who attended the function, Department of Karmic and Adhyatmik Affairs Chairman Jambey Wangdi urged the organisers to “continue this tradition of celebration,” and advised the youths to carry forward their culture and tradition.
Senior monk from the Tawang monastery, Lama Ngawang Norbu, and others also spoke. (DIPRO)
