NAMSAI, Mar 6: A day-long training cum awareness programme on oilseed production was organized by National Seeds Corporation (NSC) Ltd., Guwahati at KVK, Namsai on Wednesday.
The programme was organized under the banner of National Food Security Mission 2018-19 to boost-up the oilseed production in Namsai.
Namsai DDA SK Srivastava explained the scope and opportunities of oilseed production, processing and marketing through farmers’ cooperative society.
He assured the gathering to extend all possible support for the promotion of acreage area under oilseed cultivation in Namsai district. Srivastava also informed the farmers about various agriculture related state and central government sponsored scheme and encouraged them to take advantages of those schemes.
NSC, Guwahati Area Manager LR Singh expressed his dissatisfaction over poor production of oilseed in spite of suitable climatic condition and lands available for it.
He encouraged the farmers to grow oilseed, vegetable and other short duration crops during winter season to double their income.
Head of the KVK Dr. Manish Kanwat explained the marketing strategies and branding of farmers’ product.
He assured the participant of all the possible help for formation of farmers’ society in Namsai district.
NSC, Guwahati Production Officer Sanjiv Kumar explained the package and practices of rapeseed crop.
