TEZU, Mar 15: ‘On- line books, books in the electronic form can never replace the, joy of reading a book in print’, said Indira Gandhi Government College, Tezu, principal, Dr. Kangki Megu during a book fair organized in the college.
Organised by the College Library jointly with the Bamboosa Library, Tezu and local book-sellers, the fair was attended by over 600 students, teachers.
A separate ‘competitive examination reference cell’ was also inaugurated by the principal wherein a good collection of books for various competitive examinations were placed.
Later, the gathering also observed a two minutes’ silence to condole the passing away of Dr. Vivek Ponkshe, a renowned educationist of Pune.
Paying rich tributes to Ponkshe for his long years of support and counselling to several Arunachali college students in Pune and Maharashtra, Coordinator, Lohit Youth Libraries Satyanarayanan Munda-yoor, said that as director of Jnana Prabodhini, an outstanding educational centre of excellence in Maharashtra, Ponkshe was also instrumental in conducting numerous educational training programmes for rural students in remote pockets of NE region.
