ROING, Mar 22: Officials of the NHPC’s Dibang multipurpose project (DMP) on Wednesday distributed 12 dustbins for the residents of Sally Lake area here in Lower Dibang Valley district, under the project’s CSR programme.
Speaking on the occasion, DMP Chief General Manager Biswajit Basu underlined the responsibility of the corporate sector towards the development and uplift of the society.
“CSR is a collaboration between the corporate sector and the society, and the survival of both depends on each other,” he claimed.
On the same day, the DMP distributed furniture and utensils for the government middle school in New Anaya, and provided 100 plastic chairs to the banngo secretary of Jia village, Karik Passing. The school’s headmistress, Kumila Moto, was also present.
Basu said the NHPC is “committed towards social cause, and the scope is not limited to developing hydro projects but also providing educational facilities, healthcare and medical facilities to the locals, and developing adjoining remote areas by providing infrastructure like roads, bridges, etc.”
For the past many years the DMP has carried out several works in the field of community development, such as construction of primary schools, organizing medical camps in remote areas, installing water purifiers, construction of washrooms at schools, etc, Basu said.
