AALO, Apr 28: Expressing shock and anguish at the rape of a mentally disabled minor girl in Kamba in West Siang district on 19 April, the West Siang district unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) has demanded exemplary punishment for the rapist.
The district APWWS said it has written to the district administration to award exemplary punishment to the perpetrator of the crime, “so that nobody dares to commit such crimes again in future.”
On 25 April, a team of the district APWWS, led by its president Marbom Bagra, met the victim’s family in Kamba. The family sought the assistance of the APWWS in taking up the case.
A few other women’s organizations also met the family of the victim, and called for a fair investigation into the case. (DIPRO)
