KANUBARI, Jun 27: Twenty-two participants benefitted from a training programme on ‘scientific cultivation of black rice’, conducted here by the Longding KVK on Thursday.
During the programme, KVK Head Dr A Kirankumar Singh spoke about the benefits of black rice cultivation, and the practices to be followed for its production.
Informing the participants about the popularity of black rice, he urged them to “open their eyes to grasp the opportunities through black rice cultivation,” and said the KVK would help them market their produces through linkages.
Plant protection scientist Dr Senpon Ngomle spoke about “insect pests and diseases of the crops,” and animal science specialist Dr Tilling Tayo dwelt on proper rearing of livestock, “in view of the organic production of black rice with the use of animal manure.”
