The three day agitation launched by the teachers working under Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan (SSA) has affected the functioning of govt funded schools. The SSA teachers started agitation alleging that state government has failed to fulfill their three main demands which includes enhancement of salary at par with regular teachers under Director of Elementary Education and in compliance with the 7th CPC, along with gazette notification and batch wise regularization of teachers. As per the report, agitation has especially affected the functioning of schools located in interior areas.
Most of the schools located in far flung areas are virtually run by the SSA teachers. Therefore agitation seems to have hit these schools hard. Major chunk of students studying there hails from the poor economic background. They have no choice but to study in govt schools with the hope of securing better future. In Lower Dibang Valley district the school authorities are reportedly facing torrid time in conducting the half yearly examination. In the tussle between agitating SSA teachers and government of Arunchal, it is student communities who are paying heavy price. Keeping in mind the interest of students the state government should immediately intervene and resolve the matter. They should speak to SSA teachers and listen to their grievances. The genuine demand placed by the teachers should be fulfilled. The more agitation prolongs the more it will harm the student communities.
