Disappointing outcome

The verdict of 2G spectrum scam case has sent shockwaves across the country. A special court in Delhi today acquitted former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi along with 15 other accused in the said case. Special CBI Judge O P Saini pronounced the judgement. The verdict is expected to have huge political ramifications. Congress is using verdict to claim that UPA government was clean and was hounded by propaganda machinery. DMK leaders claim that it was victim of political conspiracy.
Already political circle is buzz with the possibilities of DMK and BJP joining hand post this verdict. BJP is reportedly exploring possibilities of making new alliance as their alliance with Shiv Sena is touching rock bottom. Party is readying itself for any eventually in 2019. But verdict will hurt the sentiment of those who voted for BJP. The saffron party came to power riding on wave of anti-corruption mood. BJP had promised strong action but acquittal of those named in 2G spectrum scam case and reluctant to fast-track Robert Vadra land case has posed serious question mark over their intention. More than 3 years have passed but no concrete action has been initiated to ensure that those named in various corruption cases gets punished. The acquittal of accused in the 2G spectrum scam case raises some pertinent question. People of India are deeply disappointed and expect government of India to challenge the verdict at higher court. Their sincerity to fight against corruption will be tested in days to come.
