Goodwill car rally arrives in town

ITANAGAR, Dec 26: A ‘Goodwill car rally’ of the Sainik School Imphal (SSI) Alumni Association arrived here on Tuesday with the aim of ‘promoting peace and unity among the people of the Northeastern states.’
The team, comprising 24 alumni of the school, started on 18 December from Imphal and held programmes at Silchar, Aizawl, Agartala and Shillong, before arriving in Itanagar.
The team along with the SSI alumni from Arunachal Pradesh will pay floral tributes to former education minister Dera Natung, who was also an alumnus of SSI, at Dera Natung Government College here.
Natung died in a chopper accident on 8 May, 2001.
Established in 1971, the sainik school in Imphal is the feeder school for all Northeastern states (except Assam, which has its own sainik school in Goalpara).
