MIAO, Dec 26: The police here in Changlang district have rescued an abducted person after 10 days of rigorous search.
Arnav Phukon, a native of Jagun (Assam), who was kidnapped by the ULFA on 15 December from Old Khamdu village in Jairampur, was rescued on 25 December near Border Post 172 on the Longvi-Jotin Juda road by a team of police from the Miao police station, informed Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Tasi Darang.
Police carried out the rescue operation with the help of inputs provided by the local people.
The victim was found abandoned in the jungle by the militants. The abductors fled the scene, sensing the arrival of police forces, said the SDPO.
A case under the Arms Act and the UA (P) Act has been registered at the Jairampur police station.
