ITANAGAR, Jan 15: All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) President Toko Takam urged the All Yachuli Students’ Union (AYSU) to work for the betterment of the student community in particular and their area as a whole.
Addressing the newly-elected AYSU team during an interaction programme at the ANSU office here on Monday, the ANSU leader advised them not to indulge in politics, and work for the welfare of the student community.
Claiming involvement of huge money in elections in Yachuli constituency, the ANSU president urged the AYSU to make every effort to curb the role of money power in elections.
Stating that the ANSU has proposed for the establishment of an agri-horti college in Yachuli, the ANSU president asked the AYSU to take follow-up action for its early materialization.
He also said that the divisional commissioner (west) office has started functioning in Yachuli, but that there was a land encroachment problem. He asked the AYSU to cooperate with the authority in freeing the encroached land from the grabbers.
The ANSU president also asked the AYSU to follow up on other demands of the union, such as the demand for a staff bus for the divisional commissioner (west) office, and posting of required teachers at all the upgraded schools in Yachuli constituency.
On Sunday, Arunachal Christian Forum General Secretary and former general secretary of the AYSU, Toko Teki urged the student community to remain united and fight for the students’ welfare and the overall interests of their constituencies.
He also urged the student leaders to quit comfortable lives and serve the society.
Echoing the ANSU president, Teki also advised the new AYSU team to discourage money culture in elections in the constituency to regain the past glory.
