Dear Editor,
In the editorial titled ” Speed up airport project “, the writer has correctly pointed out the need of better transportation facilities in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Though the state and union governments has taken various initiatives like ILP-on-arrival and construction of the Naharlagun railway station, but considering the rise in popularity of Arunachal as a tourist destination among tourism enthusiasts, it is imperative that the government ensures the construction of a commercial airport in the state as soon as possible. Also, there is no direct train from Kolkata to Naharlagun. The chief minister Pema Khandu is taking initiatives to attract entrepreneurs to the state, which is a welcome move but a good communication network to at least the capital of the state from other nearby big cities like Kolkata is an inevitable condition that needs to be fulfilled as well. The state and central governments should consider developing consider developing the transport connectivity to the capital of the state especially considering that Itanagar is to be included in the smart cities list.
Yours,
Arijit Kundu,
