BORDUMSA, Feb 8: Personnel of the Changlang battalion of the Assam Rifles and the Army in a joint operation on 7 February arrested two over-ground workers of the NSCN (K) from Kherang Bisa village here.
Dumai Singpho and Chojagam Singpho were apprehended based on specific intelligence about their presence to terrorize and attempt extortion in Kherang Bisa village, the Kohima-based Defence PRO informed on Thursday.
Brown sugar worth Rs 1 lakh, along with Rs 56,860 in cash and other incriminating evidence were recovered from the duo, it said.
‘Spot interrogation revealed that the over-ground workers had been actively supporting the banned outfit, providing administrative support, covertly carrying out extortion, and also peddling drugs for the group,’ the PRO added.
