ITANAGAR, Feb 18: Dr Doorick Ete and Wangdan Lukham walked away as winners of the ‘Officers and Officials Idol’ at the grand finale held here at the Indira Gandi Park on Sunday.
Dr Ete won in the officers’ category, followed by Sokhep Kri and Kengo Bam as the first and second runners-up respectively.
Lukham won in the officials’ category, while Toangi Agi was the first runner-up and Karna Sonar was the second runner-up.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Jarkar Gamlin.
In his address, Gamlin said the event would not only provide the officers and officials a break from their busy schedules but also give them the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents.
“Music is an art which matures with time. But many artists, after joining service, do not get the time to pursue their art. They should continue to pursue their passion and entertain the public,” said the minister.
He lauded the initiative of Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan and Tourism Parliamentary Secretary PD Sona in organising the event.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who also attended the programme, expressed hope that it would be a regular event in the future “and act as a path-breaker, as the officers and officials will have a platform to showcase their talents.”
Dhawan informed that the programme would not only showcase hidden talents but also celebrate local talents.
“This is the festival of the state, so all the local talents and the districts are being involved in the celebration. The beauty of Festival of Arunachal is that it draws everyone to it and the memories linger on,” he said.
The panel of judges was comprised of Parliamentary Secretary PD Sona, MLA Dasanglu Pul, and renowned singers Taba Yall Nabam and Jomnya Siram. (With DIPRO inputs)
