ITANAGAR, Feb 19: The tourism department organised a cleanliness drive at the Potin tri-junction on 18 February, with assistance from the shop owners of the area and the Potin anchal samity member.
An awareness meeting on cleanliness was also organized, during which Assistant Tourism Director Bengia Manna Sonam sought every individual’s participation in making Arunachal Pradesh a clean state.
Potin ASM Lishi Baka appealed to the residents and shopkeepers to avoid plastic carry bags to make Potin a plastic free zone.
A skit on ‘the role of citizens in keeping the locality clean’ was also presented.
All the residents and shopkeepers took swacchta pledge, and vowed to make Potin free from plastic within 10 days.
Four foreign tourists also joined the cleanliness drive.
Later, the department provided dustbins to the shop owners.
In Upper Subansiri HQ Yingkiong also, a large number of people, including government staffs, PRI members, shopkeepers and others on Monday participated in cleanliness drives at the upper market, the lower market and the general ground. The drive was organised by the district administration, reports the DIPRO.
