DOIMUKH, Feb 22: More than 300 hundred saplings of different plant species were planted during a mass tree plantation programme here on Thursday.
The programme was organized by the Doimukh Nyokum Yullo Celebration Committee (DNYCC) in collaboration with the Forest department with the theme ‘Let’s pay back to Nature’ to mark its 50th Nyokum Yullo celebration.
A large number of celebration committee members, the Banderdewa DFO, the range forest officer and officials of the Doimukh Forest Range and public took part in the plantation.
Speaking on the occasion, DNYCC chairman RT Tara said that the committee has banned selling or display of wild animals and bird meat at the Nyokum food stalls in Doimukh.
Informing that the DNYCC volunteers are conducting surprise inspections in the stalls to check sale of banned wild meat, he appealed to the personnel of the Forest department to conduct similar inspection and generate awareness among the masses.
DFO Banderdewa Neelam Nido lauded the effort of the DNYCC and assured to extend support in the future.
