AALO, Feb 28: A mega awareness campaign on harmful effects of tobacco consumption was organized by the District Tobacco Control Cell-(DTCC) here in West Siang district, in collaboration with the NPCDCS under the supervision of District Medical Officer-cum-District Nodal Officer, DRCHO and DPO of DTCC-Aalo at Gumin Kinn on Wednesday.
The programme was aimed at bringing about greater awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use to the people and to implement tobacco control laws in the district.
Various Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials highlighting ill-effects, tips for quitting tobacco, and such, were also distributed and displayed to a large crowd of people.
Further, free blood sugar and BP tests were conducted as part of the programme, which saw the participation of public, law students from NEFTU and police personnel.
