ITANAGAR, Mar 10: Members of the child protection units of the state were sensitized on child rights in a programme at the Don Bosco Youth Centre here on 10 March, organized by the World Vision India in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Capital Complex, Itanagar.
Parliamentary Secretary (Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs) Laisam Simai, who attended the sensitization programmme, encouraged the child protection unit members to stand united to fight crimes against children.
The crime rate in the state is increasing day by day, where children are being targeted, he said and called upon the parents to ensure wellbeing of their children.
CWC chairperson Kani Nada Maling trained the participants on the various aspects of child rights. She advised them to contact child helpline 1098 when child rights are violated, like abuse, rape and molestation.
She also presented child related issues to the participants through PowerPoint.
CWC member Oyam Binggep and Juvenile Justice Board member Jaya Doji also spoke on child labour and domestic violence.
Around 50 child protection unit members attended the programme, besides Simon Ronrang and David Dutta from World Vision India.
