BOMDILA, Mar 13: Events like mass public rally, painting and rural sports competition, photo exhibition and mass awareness meetings were held as part of a special outreach programme on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan & Swachh Survekshan 2017-18’ at Sera, here on Tuesday.
Aimed at sensitizing the masses about Swachhta Abhiyan, the programme was held in coordination with S.S.B Sector Headquarter, Bomdila.
Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion, DIG Sector Headquarter, SSB Bomdila, Sudhir Kumar said that, West Kameng district has set an example for other districts in achieving the status of ‘open defecation free district’.
He further appealed to the people to maintain the hard earned status of ODF by using the IHHL toilets properly and ensure proper disposal of household waste by segregating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. He suggested all to use biodegradable waste to make manure which can be used in their fields for better harvest of crops and vegetables.
He also informed that Sector Headquarter SSB, Bomdila as a goodwill gesture under Swachh Bharat mission constructed three toilet blocks and two bathrooms at Mandrelling Gompa, Rahung.
Bomdila PHED District Consultant, Lame Rida in his address, said that West Kameng district presently has a total of 10,217 Individual Household Latrines, 83 Community Sanitary Complex and six solid-liquid waste management.
Bomdila, FPO, DFP Pem Tsering and Bomdila SMO, Dr DK Mijiji also spoke on the occasion.
