LEDUM, Jun 15: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tatdo Borang along with PHED EE M Dupak and BDO Omem Dai visited Ledum village on Wednesday as part of the East Siang district administration’s outreach programme.
The team took stock of issues related to water supply, electricity, healthcare, education, etc, in the village. Borang advised the officers to ensure effective implementation of all central and state government schemes and projects.
He emphasized the role of the GBs and appealed to them to perform their duties with utmost fairness.
“With the help of senior members, they should conduct social awareness campaigns from time to time to educate the people and guide the young generation to preserve our culture and traditions,” Borang advised.
He also stressed on seeding Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts, and urged the villagers to cooperate with the government departments.
“Parents should send their children to schools regularly, and the teachers should serve with a missionary zeal, so that their students become worthy citizens,” he said.
Responding to a memorandum for construction of an extended drainage system and an additional cattle shed, Borang assured to bring the requests to the notice of the deputy commissioner.
Earlier, Ledum Employees Welfare Association coordinator Takir Taloh informed the visiting team that the villagers have been participating in social service activities on the fifth day of every month for years, following an awareness camp conducted by an NGO called BROS.
He also claimed that the village has recorded no malaria case for the last two years.
Among others, village council secretary Tanong Taloh, GBs, and women representatives also spoke. (DIPRO)
