NAMSAI, Jul 8: Health and sanitation programmes under the Poshan Abhiyaan were organized at Simulbari and Deobeel villages of Namsai district on Sunday.
“Poshan Abhiyan is aimed at reducing under-nutrition, anaemia and other health-related problems which are generally found among young children, women and adolescent girls of backward areas,” Women & Child Development (WCD) Commissioner Gamli Padu, who attended both the programmes, said.
Informing that the Poshan Abhiyan is a part of the Centre’s extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, he requested the field functionaries to work with complete dedication in the greater interest of the society.
The commissioner also advised the CDPOs and anganwadi workers to complete Aadhaar seeding with support from the district administration.
WCD Director T Pertin and ADC B Talukdar also spoke.
Distribution of ready-to-eat food, antenatal and postnatal health check-up for pregnant/lactating women, group monitoring of children, hand-washing practice, and nutrition and health counselling were the main features of the programme.
