NAMSAI, Jul 17: A weeklong training programme on scientific beekeeping for the farmers of Namsai district began at the KVK here on Tuesday.
Sponsored by the National Bee Board, the training is being conducted by the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Pasighat, in collaboration with the KVK here.
Addressing the inaugural function, Fisheries Assistant Director SK Jawal stressed on scientific beekeeping to generate more income, while KVK head Dr Manish Kanwat highlighted the present scenario of the bee industry in the country, and its prospects in the Northeastern region.
East Siang KVK head Dr M Pathak described the importance of beekeeping and its role in agriculture and horticulture production.
Resource persons T Riba, Dr RC Shakywar and Dr RK Patidar spoke about domestication, management, and economic benefits of beekeeping.
Farmers from Alubari, Gunanagar, Lathoa, Deobeel and Mahadevpur are participating in the training programme.
