The much delayed Hollongi green field airport finally seems to picking pace with Chief Minister Pema Khandu personally intervening to push the project. The project which was almost forgotten by the people of state got fresh lease of live in the last one year. After becoming Chief Minister of state Pema Khandu has made efforts to revive all the stalled infrastructure projects including the Hollongi green field airport project. The fruits of his efforts are finally yielding result as on Monday the Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha during a meeting with Khandu informed that project is likely to get approval in the month of August.
Considering the fact that in the past also such assurance were made but it never materialized, the people of state are still skeptical. However the relentless pursuing of Hollongi green field airport project by CM Khandu gives hope that he will push for it until the project becomes reality. Earlier there was lot of uncertainty regarding medical college project but Chief Minister has kept his promise to make the college functional. The state’s first medical college, Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, is about to start functioning from the month of August with first batch of students. Therefore the people of Arunachal will be hoping that green field airport project also starts at the earliest. Itanagar has the dubious distinction of being the only capital in whole of India not to have airport of its own.
