The dream of having its own medical college is finally going to come true. The state’s lone medical college, the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) is all set to open its doors on 1 August next. It is going to be historic day as the first batch of MBBS students will be inducted on that day. Arunachal has waited for long for this dream to materialize. Lot of credit goes to Chief Minister Pema Khandu who has shown remarkable leadership quality in pursuing this project and also ensuring that college indeed starts functioning.
It was not an easy task. Despite several hiccups and uncertainty, the CM relentlessly kept pursuing the project till it became reality. It is a proud moment for people of Arunachal. However the journey ahead will be difficult. The people of state especially the first batch students, majority of whom are from Arunachal, will have to play an important role. Initial days will be tough but everyone should remember that Rome was not built in a single day. Therefore they will have to cooperate with authorities of TRIHMS and help in the growth of the medical college. Also huge responsibilities lies on the shoulder of TRIHMS authorities especially on its director Dr Moji Jini, who is a well respected surgeon. They should ensure that funds are properly utilized in the development of college. If they can develop TRIHMS into a world class medical institute, their name will be etched in the history of state. It will not be an easy task but it is definitely not impossible.
