ITANAGAR, Jul 26: Governor BD Mishra, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas, on Thursday paid tributes to the gallant Indian Army soldiers who fought in the Kargil war.
“On the proud occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas (Kargil Day), I salute the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of our gallant Indian Army soldiers who from 5 May to 26 July 1999 valiantly fought at the high altitude and snowbound areas of Kargil mountains in Jammu & Kashmir to liberate the Indian territory from the Pakistan Army. The whole nation stands beholden to the Kargil heroes of the Indian Army,” the governors said in his message.
Kargil Vijay Divas is observed to pay homage to the Kargil war heroes who “gave their today for our tomorrow,” he added.
“I join my fellow citizens of Arunachal Pradesh in paying our tribute to the plucky and fearless soldiers of Mother India, who stood firm on their line of duty and are no more with us. I am sanguine that our great nation will continue to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of those brave hearts. May the martyrs of Kargil war ever live in our memory,” the Mishra said.
