LUMRI, Jul 26: The Lumri Natural Resources Committee on Wednesday organized a plantation drive in Lumri village in Lower Subansiri district. The drive was taken up from the main road to the village, covering a distance of about 5 kms.
Bordumsa MLA Nikh Kamin, Banderdewa DFO Neelam Nedo, and Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar also joined the plantation drive, during which about 400 saplings were planted.
Kamin spoke on the need to preserve the flora and fauna of the area, and urged the youths to take active part to protect the natural resources.
The DFO highlighted the importance of forests and wildlife. Saying that all trees should be saved, he urged the participants not to kill wild animals and birds “as they are the seed dispersal agents.”
The DC also advised the youths to be active in activities that protect natural resources.
