NAMSAI, Aug 14: Local MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom on Monday launched the first Health & Wellness Centres (HWC) in Arunachal Pradesh – one at the PHC in Piyong, and the other at the SHC in Nongtaw Khamti.
The two HWCs were mandated by the government of India as part of the aspirational district project, and the target was fixed for 15 August, 2018.
The objective of the HWCs is to bring comprehensive primary health care services nearer to the beneficiaries’ doorsteps. The AYUSH component is also envisaged in the package of services, besides IT components.
Namchoom appreciated the support of the state nodal officers, the constant monitoring by the district administration, and the endeavour of the health & family welfare department in ensuring the timely launch of the HWCs.
He also announced various schemes for creating infrastructure, to the tune of more than Rs 97 lakhs, in Piyong circle.
SNO (HWC) Dr Lobsang Zampa and ANO Dr Dipu Lowang highlighted the services to be provided through the centres, and Namsai DMO Dr Nani Rika appealed to the GBs, SHGs, youths and public to extend their cooperation in providing the best health care services to the needy.
Deputy Commissioner RK Sharma said the onus of providing health care services lies with the trained manpower under the supervision of the DMO. The required medicines, diagnostics and logistics must be made available at these facilities all the time, he said.
“The branding of infrastructure should not be the end of the programme,” the DC said.
DRCHO Dr Tope Yomcha, Piyong CO Indira T Riba, MOIC (HWC) Piyong Dr Yapi Tayang, HoDs, GBs, and others attended the function. (DIPRO)
