ITANAGAR, Aug 20: Former legal metrology & consumer affairs deputy controller Niranjan Chakraborty passed away at Beltola in Guwahati on Sunday, following a brief illness.
Chakraborty joined the department in 1963 as inspector, and served for more than 29 years. He retired from service on superannuation in 1992.
“He was a very sincere, dedicated and hardworking officer who spent the major part of his life in the department. He was considered as the torchbearer of the department,” said LM&CA Controller Hoktum Ori.
The staff of the LM&CA observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to late Chakraborty, and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. The department also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
