CHONGKHAM, Sep 11: Governor BD Mishra addressed a special sainik sammelan at the 20 Madras Army camp here in Namsai district on 11 September.
The governor felicitated the officers and personnel of the unit for their yeoman services towards the local people in the past few months, particularly during two successive fire accidents.
Mishra, who was commissioned into the Madras Regiment in 1961 and commanded a unit of the regiment during his illustrious army career, emphasized on discipline and honour of the regiment. He advised the officers and jawans to live up to the motto of the Madras Regiment: ‘It is glory to die doing one’s duty’.
“Be prepared to lay down you life for the nation and the honour of your battalion,” the governor said.
He later interacted with the jawans over high tea, and wished them a happy tenure in Arunachal Pradesh.
The governor was accompanied by Namsai DC Tapasya Raghav, Lohit DC Karma Leki, Namsai SP Singhjatla Singpho, and Lohit SP PN Thungon. (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
