Pertinent question

Ever since fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya declared outside a London court on Wednesday that he meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley before leaving India a raging political storm has hit the country. Allegations and counter allegation by Congress and BJP over the issue is dominating the political discourse of the nation. While Congress alleged that BJP government helped Mallya to flee country, the BJP on the other hand alleges that UPA government bend rules to favour Mallya.
Mr Jaitley has also dismissed the claim of Mallya and clarified that it was not a formal meeting. In the midst of all this hysterical political drama, majority of the people including media is failing to raise pertinent question of who diluted look the out notice against Viay Mallya calling for his detention on sight at airports. The lookout notice, put out on October 16, 2015, was converted weeks later on November 24 into a notice for “report on arrival”. This allowed him to fled country for the UK in the middle of loan fraud investigations against him. Mr Mallya reportedly owes Rs. 9,000 crore to various banks in India. The role of people involved in helping him to flee country should be thoroughly investigated. As serious question marks have been raised over the role of finance minister, government should order probe into the whole case. The whole country wants to know who aided Mr Mallya to fled country even when CBI was looking for him.
