CHANDIGARH, Oct 6: The final ‘training-cum-meeting’ of youth leaders and student organization leaders of the Northeast was held at the Don Bosco Navjeevan Society (DBNS) here on Saturday, and saw the participation of 40 youth leaders representing the eight NE states.
The programme, an initiative of the Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC), Itanagar, in collaboration with the DBNS, involved discussions on the 4th edition of the North East Youth Fest (NEYF) scheduled to be held here from 9-10 November.
Addressing the participants, DBYC director Fr Cyriac spoke about the three pivotal ideologies that he said formed the core values of the festival: education, entertainment, and moral rectitude.
He said the NEYF would be held keeping in mind that “all the activities revolve round the values necessary for young people of today.”
He also placed on record the encouragement and support from former Arunachal Pradesh sports & youth affairs minister Rajesh Tacho, and Chief Minister Pema Khandu for the NEYF.
DBNS director Fr Regi expressed hope that the helpdesk for the NE youths in Chandigarh would be established at the earliest with the help of the Chandigarh administration.
During the open discussion, the young leaders worked out the modalities of organizing the NEYF, themed ‘Young people towards nation-building’.
