NE student bodies to hold parleys with HM

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: A delegation of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) along with other constituent student unions of various states of the Northeast under the banner of the North East Students’ Organization (NESO) will call on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday to hold parleys on various issues pertaining to the NE region.
The issues include demand for scrapping of the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016; a separate time zone for the NE states; and declaring the recurrent floods in the NE region as a national disaster.
“Apart from several issues of the NE states in general and Arunachal in particular, such as the refugee row, the interstate boundary issue, and the stapled visa issue, the NESO has included the recent Siang flood problem in its charter of demands this time,” AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai said.
He informed that the NESO will stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar on 11 October to press its demands.
