ITANAGAR, Oct 28: Champion FC defeated the USDCCCCC SC by 3-0 goals to lift the 24th Vishwakarma Football Running Trophy Tournament in the final match played here on Sunday.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 80,000 with the running trophy, and the runner-up walked away with Rs 40,000 cash prize with trophy.
Toko Poliam scored two goals for the winning team in the first half of the match. The third goal in the kitty of Champion FC resulted from an own goal by an USDCCCCC player in the second half.
Toko Poliam was adjudged the highest scorer of the tournament with five goals, while Tage Pilya and Pura Byai of Champion FC were declared the best goalkeeper and the best player of the tournament, respectively.
Teli Mania of Chimpu Richi Youth (CRY) FC was awarded as an emerging player, while Rughu Sport’s Club was declared ‘fair play team of the tournament’.
Attending the closing ceremony, IMWA president Yumlam Achung and former AAPSU spokesperson Tanya Agu encouraged the players to maintain sportsmanship in the near the future also.
The tournament was organized by the Lions Club of Chimpu.
