NAHARLAGUN, Jan 6: The Tagin community residing in the capital complex celebrated Si-Donyi festival with great pomp and gaiety at Helipad Colony here on Sunday.
Taking part in the celebration, Indigenous Affairs Department Chairman Nabam Atum called upon the youths to protect and preserve their culture with true spirit.
Saying that the Tagins would “soon become role models in preserving their culture,” Atum urged the community to conduct research on their culture and document them.
Also attending the programme, the Mishing Autonomous Council’s Chief Executive Councillor, Paramanda Changyengia, stressed on the relevance of Si-Donyi festival, and expressed hope that the festivities would reinforce the cultural heritage and traditions of Arunachal Pradesh.
Earlier, celebration committee vice chairman Tuter Nima and secretary Tameng Kamsar briefed about the festival and its mythology.
Hoyi Penam, Koni Bokar, Si-Loda, mega dance, etc, were the other highlights of the programme.
