NAHARLAGUN, Jan 23: Nineteen traders were booked for violation of various provisions of the Legal Metrology Act during a sudden inspection conducted at Pachin Colony and Wednesday Market at Papu Nallah near here by a team of officials from the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs on Wednesday.
The team found the traders using weights, measures, weighing and measuring instruments without getting periodical verification, while some of them could not produce the verification certificate at the time of inspection.
The team led by Papum Pare LM&CA Inspector Debia Tana and Itanagar Inspector Itanagar G Singpho, with the help of police from the Naharlagun police station seized all unverified weights and measures possessed by the traders.
Both the inspectors appealed to the traders to cooperate with the department by getting their weights and measures verified and checked for accuracy on time.
