NEW DELHI, Feb 7: Arunachal East MP Ninong will introduce three private member bills in the Lok Sabha on 8 February.
The bills are: Prevention of Custodial Torture Bill, 2018; Social Media Accountability Bill, 2018; and Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2018.
The prevention of custodial torture bill seeks to hold public servants or any other person accountable for any kind of custodial torture. It also advocates punishment for torture, other cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment to victims in custody, and protection of victims, complainants and witnesses.
The social media accountability bill seeks to hold social media companies accountable for the contents uploaded on their respective portals. The bill also seeks to constitute a ‘network enforcement authority’ to adjudicate all disputes on social/tele media, impose penalties, and punish wrongdoers.
The railways (amendment) bill or the railways safety bill advocates an independent railway safety board to ensure proper safety mechanism in the Indian Railways.
