Spl registration drive for RGU workers held

RONO HILLS, Feb 12: The Rajiv Gandhi University Employees’ Association (RGUEA) organised a ‘special awareness programme and registration drive’ for the casual workers and labourers under the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) employed at RGU.
Staffers of the APB&OCWWB were invited to create awareness on various schemes and incentives available to the registered labourers of the state.
Papum Pare district APB&OCWWB Registering Officer Koj Kano spoke on the benefits availed by the workers registered under the labour welfare board.
RGU Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha informed that a proposal for construction of a labourers’ barrack is being pursued at the appropriate level. He also assured to take up innovative welfare measures for the workers.
RGUEA president Sollung Sonam said a slew of measures is being taken up by the university’s administration, and that a representation for having a labour welfare cell at the university is also being pursued.
He informed that a labour welfare fund has been created and employees of the university are contributing towards this corpus fund.
RGUEA vice president Gomar Basar informed that the programme was a follow-up activity to the 28th foundation day programme which had been organised on 12 December last year.
Over 200 workers were registered during the drive.
