Union seeks compensation for injured students

DAPORIJO, Feb 28: Informing that two students from Upper Subansiri district sustained grievous injuries during the anti-PRC agitation in Itanagar, the All Upper Subansiri District Students’ Union (AUSDSU) has appealed to the state government to grant compensation to them along with the other protest victims.
The students are Takar Marbom (19) and Tai Rai (25), both from Daporijo, the union said.
“While Marbom received grievous bullet injuries, Rai was mercilessly beaten up by security personnel while he was returning from RK Mission Hospital after attending to a patient,” it said.
The condition of Marbom, who is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital in Guwahati, is stated to be critical.
According to relatives, Rai has been discharged from hospital after being treated.
Meanwhile, the parents and guardians of both the injured students have also appealed to the state government to provide financial assistance/compensation as per the norms for medical treatment of their wards.
