KHENEWA, Mar 1: Ahondo Menjo of Roing in Lower Dibang Valley won the mountain terrain bike (MTB) race which was organized as part of the Nyokum Yullo celebration here in East Kameng district from 24 to 26 February.
Menjo, who was the runner-up in the Mechuka MTB Arunachal 2018, took 2 hours and 14 minutes to complete the 53-km race from Seppa Nyokum Lapang to Khenewa.
He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, along with a certificate.
Innus Ali of Assam took 20 minutes more to complete the race behind Menjo. He was the winner of the MTB Tawang last year.
Tajum Dere of Mechuka in Shi-Yomi district finished third with a timing of 3 hours and 4 minutes.
The second and third position winners were awarded cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively.
Tung Sono from Seppa came in fourth.
Parvati Gyati Sonowal, the lone woman participant, and Molov Dutta, the youngest participant (14 years old), were also felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 5000 each.
The race was organized by the Khenewa Nyokum Yullo Celebration Committee, under the guidance of East Kameng project director Dahey Sangno and the DT Group.
Twenty cyclists participated in the race.
