ITANAGAR, Mar 22: The capital complex administration is conducting a series of programmes under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation in order to create awareness among the citizens about their right to vote.
As part of the programme, the administration in collaboration with the sports department will conduct a mini-marathon on 31 March, and the winners will be awarded cash prizes, DC Himanshu Gupta informed, and urged the residents of the capital complex to participate in it.
The DC also said a debate competition on the topic ‘Has Arunachal truly evolved as a vibrant democracy since last 32 years?’ will be conducted at various colleges of the capital complex, and the winners will later take part in an inter-college debate competition.
The DC expressed hope that such events would help instill “a sense of understanding amongst the students about their rights to exercise voting in a free and fair manner.”
Audiovisual display vans are also being placed at areas where the polling percentage in the last elections’ was less than fifty, the DC said. (DIPRO)
