Human Follies

— Tamo Yanga
Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh

When God was creating me,
Did he ask
In which form should I be?

Man, beast, bird or insect.
Did I say,
In the very form of God himself?

Life on earth is beautiful.
Nevertheless,
To live here, is competition too.

Run fast or shall be late.
Oh God!
From dawn to dusk, have no rest.

Determined to endure and survive,
Testify upon my grave that I’ve lived my life.

With heavenly angels once again
Smiling at the strange journey of being human.
