ITANAGAR, Apr 22: The BJP has said that it will bring back the citizenship amendment bill (CAB), and that refugees will be given citizenship, if the party returns to power.
The comment was made by party president Amit Shah while addressing a programme in West Bengal on Monday.
“We will bring the citizenship amendment bill and refugees will be given citizenship. Therefore, the refugees don’t have to worry, but the ‘infiltrators’ will not be spared. The CAB will be applicable in the entire country and not just confined to West Bengal,” the party later tweeted.
Shah further said that the “BJP is committed to implement the NRC at the national level and accord citizenship to the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain and Christian refugees belonging to the religious minorities from the neighbouring countries.”
