Re-polling will be held in 18 polling stations of Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi districts on 27th of this month. The polling was necessitated following the allegation of large scale rigging and vote capturing in the two districts. The election commission has deployed heavy police for the re-poll in order to prevent any kind of poll related violence. One of the polling stations where the re-poll will take place is Restaring under Kra Daadi district. Restaring falls under Palin assembly constituency where Takam Pario (Congress), Balo Raja (BJP) and Byabang Taj JD (U) are locked in three corner fight.
In a praiseworthy step the circle officer (CO) of Tarak Lengdi circle under whose jurisdiction the said polling station falls conducted a meeting with leaders, agents and supporters of all the MLA candidates on 21 April last wherein everybody resolved for peaceful conduct of the re-poll. Besides CO and gaon burahs, the meeting was attended by political agents of BJP, the INC and the JD (U). The others should take cue from the effort of CO Tarak Lengdi and make similar attempt in their respective areas. Election should be held in peaceful atmosphere so that voters can freely exercise their democratic rights. The deployment of large number of security forces will definitely help to conduct the election. But it will be better if the administration and election commission manages to convince all the parties to create a congenial atmosphere for the peaceful conduct of the re-poll.
