Natung seeks all-round development of East Kameng

SEPPA, Jul 2: Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung exhorted the HoDs and other government officials to shoulder their responsibilities to bring about all-round development of East Kameng district.
The minister also urged the district’s MLAs to work together for a better tomorrow for the district and the state as a whole.
Natung was addressing a coordination meeting with the district’s HoDs and MLAs here last Saturday.
Stressing the role of SHGs, he urged all the departments to involve as many SHGs as possible “for fruitful implementation of the government’s schemes.”
Seeking details of the power supply scenario in the district, the minister directed the power department to conceptualize a plan to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. He also urged the PHE&WS department to provide “uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to all.”
Expressing displeasure over the progress of the construction of the Seppa-Chayang Tajo road, Natung directed the executing firm to expedite and complete all construction work “latest by 31 January, 2020.”
He also directed the telecommunication agency to rectify faults to provide uninterrupted and fast network at the earliest.
To bring improvement in the agriculture and horticulture sectors, Natung suggested establishing coordination between the KVK and the agriculture and horticulture departments, besides constituting a committee to “prepare a master plan to make East Kameng an organic district.”
He also directed the department concerned to start “micro-chipping all mithuns on a mission mode for better monitoring and management of the livestock.”
The minister cautioned the people against dumping of wastes into the Kameng river, and also directed the urban development & housing department to conceptualize a plan for modernizing the DUDA market. He asked the department to identify areas in Seppa township for installing pay-and-use toilets, and emphasized on proper maintenance of the drains.
The minister urged the DDSE and the DMO to submit reports detailing the requirements of their departments. He also assured to address the problems being faced by the banks, and directed the SBI branch manager to open one more branch of the bank in Seppa, besides a new branch in Chayang Tajo, at the earliest.
Natung asked the banks to “accord topmost priority to all government welfare schemes” and requested the MD of the APSABCL to open branches, along with ATM facilities, in Bana and Bameng.
On the law and order front, Natung enquired about the strength of the police personnel, the department’s control unit, and the crime rate in the district, and suggested installing CCTV cameras in strategic locations across Seppa township.
Giving assurance that he would take up all the demands placed by different departments and the EKSWCO “on priority,” he said “the district can be developed and lifted up to any level if everyone works together with dedication and devotion.”
All the MLAs present assured to work as a team in the greater interest of the district.

The coordination meeting was convened by Natung along with MLAs Goruk Pordung, Hayeng Mangfi, Tapuk Taku and Biyuram Wahge in a move to build better coordination in implementation of government schemes in the district. (DIPRO)
