DAPORIJO, Aug 13: An ‘orientation programme on Mahila Kishan Sasaktikaran Pariyojna (MKSP)-cum-convergence meeting of the agriculture and allied departments’ was conducted here in Upper Subansiri district by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission’s (ArSRLM) Daporijo block mission management unit (BMMU) on Monday.
Block Mission Manager Kepor Mara in his address said the ArSRLM has mobilized 1088 households into SHGs and formed 136 women SHGs under the Daporijo BMMU.
“This has empowered hundreds of women through the institution of SHGs, capacity-building, and livelihood promotion,” he said.
Mara urged the heads of line departments to work together for effective implementation of the programme.
“We all should work together as our motive is to eradicate poverty from the rural areas, which is the need of the hour,” he said.
Livelihood Mission block coordinator Ginbom Siga said, “The MKSP is a project to improve the status of women in the agriculture sector.” She encouraged women to practice sustainable agriculture, and highlighted the activities to be taken up under the MKSP.
HDO Molar Bui urged the stakeholders to work hard to ensure the programme’s success. “With the help of women SHGs, we can achieve the real goal of the agriculture and allied departments,” Bui said.
DFDO Taye Riamuk encouraged women to work together, and emphasized on the fishery sector for income generation, and assured to extend technical support whenever needed.
Among others, BDO Gyati Pushang, Daporijo APRB BM Arun Upadyay, ADO T Rilo, CDPO Ijum Doye Bui, and KVK representative Topi Riba addressed the programme.
